Flood in West Campus’ J Building caused temporary closure

By KEVIN HARTUNGPima Post If you were like me on Monday, you woke up late, drove across town and hurried to get to class on time, only to find the second floor of the J Building was closed and your class was canceled. These classes and some offices in the J Building on West Campus were closed because of unexpected flooding. So, what happened? In an emailed response on March 2, spokeswoman Libby Howell for Pima Community College acknowledged the unexpected flooding. “The cause of the flooding was a floor sink faucet in the second floor custodial closet of J-Building that was left running overnight,” Howell said. “The community service officer found the faucet running on Monday morning at 6:25 a.m.” Howell said that classes on the second floor resumed Tuesday and ...

Divided board confirms contract extension for Chancellor Lambert

At the Mesa Indoor Invitational Feb. 13, No. 1 ranked Orian Barger finished at first place in the 600-meter race with a time of 19.54 seconds, breaking Pima’s original indoor record. Big companies offer students a break on prices

You would be surprised, however, with the amount of money college students can save from deals. Big corporations such as Apple, Spotify, Amazon and Microsoft Office 365, give discounts or even free material for students currently enrolled at a college or university. Pima Men’s Basketball team dominates Glendale Community College

By GERARDO CASTROPima Post Pima Community College men’s basketball team (14-8) hosted Glendale Community College (13-9) Saturday in a game that wasn’t close at all besides the beginning stages of the game when the score was 2-3. Glendale never had a lead in the game and Pima made sure to take advantage of that. The Aztecs came out strong out the gates against Glendale as the score was already 12-5 with 16:38 left in the first half of the game. One major factor that was noticeable throughout the game was the Aztecs' 3-point shooting as the team shot an impressive 58.1% from beyond the arc. We are embarking on another semester at Pima Community College when the cry has been “back to normal.” But Pima, like most colleges and universities nationwide, has seen a decline in enrollment. The sharpest decline is evident since the pandemic, but the benefit is that the pandemic has focused a spotlight on what has been a steady decrease in enrollment over the last decade. “Overall, enrollment in undergraduate and graduate programs has been trending downward since around 2012, but the pandemic turbocharged the declines at the undergrad level,” said Elissa Nadworny in a National Public Radio broadcast on Oct. 26.
