BRIEF: Son convicted in shocking NYC murder-for-hire conspiracy over family real estate business

A federal jury in Brooklyn on Wednesday convicted Anthony Zottola, Sr. and Himen Ross of murder-for-hire conspiracy and murder-for-hire in the Oct. 4, 2018 killing of Sylvestor Zottola, 71, according to a DOJ press release. Bushawn Shelton, an additional co-conspirator, pleaded guilty to the same charges in August. The elder Zottola was killed as he waited for a cup of coffee at a McDonald's drive-thru in the Bronx. “Over the course of more than a year, the elderly victim, Sylvester Zottola, was stalked, beaten, and stabbed, never knowing who orchestrated the attacks. It was his own son, who was so determined to control the family’s lucrative real estate business that he hired a gang of hit men to murder his father,” said US Attorney Breon Peace. BRIEF: former Tucson insurance agent sentenced for ‘elder fraud’

The DOJ announced Wednesday that Tucsonan Koreasa Maria Williams, 47, was sentenced on Sept. 30 after defrauding an 80-year-old client of over $1 million. Williams then used those funds in an effort to avoid criminal charges stemming from a previous annuity fraud scheme she was running. Williams' sentence includes 136 months in prison and requires restitution to be paid to her victims. This sentence will run concurrently with a 51-month sentence for her earlier annuity fraud scheme. By Kanika SamraPima Community College External Relations From dreaming of being a superhero with healing powers to turning it into reality, Lizbeth Mora has come a long way and is proud of her achievements. More so, she says, she is proudest of the fact that she’s been able to graduate debt-free. Had she followed her initial path, she wouldn’t have been able to say that. Lizbeth, from the May 2022 cohort of Pima graduates, received multiple job offers from local hospitals this summer. Pima College adding travel rider to cover out-of-network services, namely abortion

Pima College announced Monday that it is in the final stages of adding a travel rider to the college's plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona that will cover $5,000 of expenses tied to travel and lodging to receive covered services that they are unable to receive locally. Terminating a pregnancy is not the only service covered by the new insurance coverage, although it was the focal point of the announcement from Chancellor Lee Lambert. Phil Burdick, Vice Chancellor of External Relations, was able to give us additional details that weren't included in the email announcement sent college-wide Monday. As an intern at the Cybersecurity Operations Center –CSOC for short– Tauty is working on an Elasticsearch project that looks at incoming cybersecurity threats, such as attacks on an institutions’ firewall, and parses them for information. Parsing, she explains, helps to identify relevant information from long and complicated data feeds which contain strings of numbers and characters.
