Sweet Tomatoes Exclusively Returns to Tucson

By Steve Forrester Between 2023 and 2024, over twenty different Tucson-area restaurants closed their doors. We’re happy to see that one restaurant has returned with their doors wide open, and not just returned to Tucson, but exclusively returned to our fair city. This restaurant is Sweet Tomatoes, which had its grand re-opening at Broadway and Wilmot on April 1st, 2024. At 11:00 a.m. on that drizzly Monday morning, a long line of guests showed up (the first in line arrived at least an hour early), and all applauded when the doors opened and the line began to slowly step inside the renovated restaurant. Pima Community College to Grant Metallica Student Scholarships for Third Year Straight

Source: Pima Community College Press Release Pima Community College has once again been selected as a beneficiary of the Metallica Scholars Initiative for the third consecutive year. Under the program, twenty PCC students will be granted scholarships up to $1000 each for completing their program as of October 12, 2023. The rock band Metallica decided in 2018 to donate $1 million to ten community colleges nationwide. The band wanted to give back to communities that have supported them throughout the years. Their goal was to specifically donate to community colleges to help those students obtain better technical education and trade-career opportunities. Pima Men’s Basketball get much-needed win

By GERARDO CASTROPima Post Pima Community College men’s basketball team (13-8) returned to its home court last night at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium where the team faced off against Phoenix College (10-9) in a close one. Both teams started off slowly. The score was a mere 2-3 for the first five minutes of the game. Freshman Traivar Jackson started to get things going for the Aztecs both on the offensive and defensive end as the team was feeding him in the post. He finished with 33 points and 8 blocks. Coach Peabody subbed in freshmen Jalen Johnson around the 12-minute mark as the team needed an offensive spark off the bench. Johnson finished with 15 points on an efficient 60 percent shooting performance. At the end of the first half, the Aztecs led the Bears 49-39. The...

Get money: Scholarship deadline extended

By ALEX JIMENEZPima Post Pima Community College’s deadline for scholarship applications for the Spring 2022 semester has been extended and now closes on Jan. 7.  Fifty-five foundation awards are available, along with 4,000+ scholarships for Pima students on the ScholarshipUniverse site (pima.edu/paying-for-college/scholarships/other-scholarships.html) Two of Pima’s tuition awards for Arizona residents, PCC Merit and PCC Excellence, are open for the 2022-2023 season with a deadline of June 30, 2022. “We will be reviewing and offering tuition awards on a monthly basis till we run out of funds ($600,000) and will be first-come, first-serve,” said Antonio Silva-Garcia, advance program director for Pima Financial Aid. “Earn to Learn has extended the deadline to Dec. 31, the ...
